1920年11月、土方喜一牧師を中心に6名が集まり、聖書学園としてサクラメント第一日系バプテスト教会を設立しました。教会の所在地は、1530 Fifth Streetでした。1922年、土方喜一牧師は日本に帰国し、柴田紘一牧師が後を継ぎました。1932年7月には、バプテスト教会の会員数は90名を超えていました。
日本人収容所時代には、それまで持っていた仕事、住む場所を含めた全財産を没収されて、強制収容所に送り込まれました。戦争が終わっても困難なものだったと語られています。キャピタル・モール再開発計画の後、当教会は2900 29th Avenueへの移転を余儀なくされました。
2020年、コロナウィルスの大流行により、毎週オンラインで礼拝が行われるようになりました。教会の建物の老朽化、また維持するのが難しくなった為、教会理事会は建物の売却を決定し、現在の場所（8211 Sierra College Blvd, Roseville, California）に移転しました。正式名称はFirst Japanese Baptist Churchですが、愛称はGranite Bay Japanese Churchです。
Originally called Seisho Gakuen (Bible Institute), Sacramento First Japanese Baptist Church was established in November 1920 by Reverend Kiichi Hijikata along with six others. The church was located at 1530 Fifth Street. In 1922, Reverend Kiichi Hijikata went back to Japan and Reverend H.Y. Shibata took over. By July of 1932, the Baptist Church had over 90 members.
During the Japanese internment, the church housed many families’ belongings and after the war, housed many people who lost their homes. After the Capital Mall redevelopment plan, the church was forced to move to 2900 29th Avenue.
In 2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the church shifted into an online platform where weekly service was held online. Due to how old the church building was, the church board decided to sell it and moved to its present location at 8211 Sierra College Blvd, Roseville, California. Officially still known as the First Japanese Baptist Church, the nickname is the Granite Bay Japanese Church.
